NOTE: This section of my website is VERY outdated. I really don't post convention pictures here anymore. Instead, you can find thousands and thousands of them on my Flickr account, located at:

Enjoy!
These are pictures from Conclave 30, held in Lansing, Michigan in October of 2005.
Conclave is also the "home" convention of the Dorsai Irregulars, so I got to see many familliar faces there. It was also my first ever science-fiction convention.
Probably the only thing worth going to at Detroit airport. The rest of the airport was a dump. Seriously.
[Edit: It has since been pointed out to me that I was in the old "Smith Terminal", which sucked, and has since closed down. The other terminal of DTW is much nicer.]
No really, this was it. The ENTIRE registration line. What's even more amazing is that the people for registration just showed up with a few cash boxes and binders 15 minutes before registration was to open. Being used to the big registration department for Anthrocon, this just blew me away.
The lights on the ceiling were animated and ran down the hallway towards the consuite. The consuite also had a keg of beer, which was a first for me at any convention.
If the title of this picture makes no sense, you need to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The guy with the pope cat was "elected" pope at a panel.
I did not ask for more details. :-P
Well, we had to come up with a way to heat it, and since we didn't have a double boiler available, we had to improvise with a coffee pot!
This was from a panel called "Fun with liquid nitrogen" or similar. They froze all sorts of things there.
