January 1st, 2006

Uncle Kage and I visited the Adam's Mark hotel on January 1st, 2006. Or rather, what was left of it.

Click on each picture if you'd like to view details of that particular picture.

Also, you may wish to view Uncle Kage's pictures of the inside of the Adam's Mark, taken some months before, when the hotel held a public sale of its inventory.

The full dump of the pictures, and in much higher resolution can be found on my photo album on Flickr.

1

The main tower is pretty much the only thing left. the Exhibition Center, Ballroom, and the restaurants have been knocked down into the big pile of debris in the foreground.

2

The rectangular tower with the logo contains the stairwell and elevators that used to be located right outside of Quincy's, which we knew as "The Zoo".

4

The parking lot, which we used to pack full of cars, is now deserted, except for a few construction trailers.

Even the iron fence that surrounded the lot has now been partially torn down. Probably resold as scrap metal.

5

It looks like that open space is part of the ballroom. Uncle Kage once stood onstage just inside that opening for his storyhour.

6

I zoomed in on the main entrance for this shot. Barely visible in there is the elevator lobby where people used to congregate.

7

I don't think anymore needs to be said here.

8

Across the top of the picture are some boarded up windows. The ones on the left were where the old Consuite and Supersponsor Lounge used to be.

On the far right was the room where the Chairman stayed. (when he was lucky enough to get sleep, that is!)

9

Taken from the entrance to the driveway. The canopy on the entrance has since been removed.

On the right is where the fitness center used to be.

10

The pool has since been torn up and filled in by a giant pile of debris.

11

Taken from the sidewalk, looking almost straight down. This is what's left of the giant window that was in the pool area. If you look closely, you can see what's left of the floor vent.
