The Female Perspective, Part 2

by Phoenix (rodimus@one.net.au)

So, why do all the girls think Megatron and Optimus Prime are so sexy?
Please put aside the notion for a moment that they are just robots, I am
considering them as 'men'.

The first and most obvious reason is their power, they are first in command
of their respective armies. Any man (well, just about!) who is high ranking,
wether as captain of a sports team or the president of a nation, will always
be able to pull in the girls. Power is a big drawcard, it sends out the
message that 'I'm the best' and from a survival point of view this is highly
desirable.

But power isn't everything, especially if the man in question is dead ugly
(sorry guys). Beauty as they say, is in the eye of the beholder, and both
Optimus and Megatron are tall, broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted, stong jawed
and have great strength without being too bulky. These attributes are
considered to be the masculine ideal.

Personally, I think Megatron is ugly, but I can see why other women consider
him attractive. It is his raw masculinity; even though he is not gentle or
kind, is ill-mannered, dangerous and not the sort of boy you would take home
to meet the folks.

Optimus Prime on the other hand, has presence; he projects self confidence
and is considerate and caring. Of course he can also turn on the 'kick your
diodes' aggression when needed. These guys represent two types of men of
which girls are going to like either one or the other, which sort of
explains why they are so popular.

Now I know you are saying 'but what about the underdogs? The Autobots and
Decepticons who are none of these things, who are ranked so low they
probably are not good enough to clean the floor of the Ark with a
toothbrush? Or are so unattractive in robot mode that the other guys tease
them by calling them C3PO?'(the ultimate insult). Well there will always be
a girl for every guy; a Miss Right and Mr Right. Besides, personality is
everything, right? And everyone is looking for something different.

Thats it for now, if I don't receive any death threats or insults on this
article I might write again. Please send comments to
grwalker@enternet.com.au and I will respond (especially to the guy who
originally asked the question and started all this!).
