Transformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD

Looks like Transformers: The Movie is being re-released on DVD just in time for its 20th anniversary. It's hard to believe that I first saw this movie in theatres over 20 years ago.

Cool things that this version of the DVD has include:

  • 16 x 9 Widescreen format - The previously released DVD does not have this; this is the first time the movie has been released in that format since appearing in theaters.

  • The "Autobox Matrixof Knowledge Presentation" - A special feautre of the movie that will display trivia and facts about the movie and transformers in general while the movie plays.

  • Multiple audio commentaries, including the writers (Nelson Shin and Flint Dille), voice actress Sue Blu (Arcee), and a fan commentary.

  • Additional content:

    • Original episode of "Scramble City" from Japan

    • Original commercials for the toy line and movie

    • Extra test/alternative/deleted footage from the movie

The origins of Transformers slash

http://youtube.com/watch?v=KYYhegUs2Z4

There's lot of screengrab and LJ icon potential in this video, complete with a money shot at the very end. Of course, you'll never look at the Transformers the same way again after watching it.

Other Transformers Pages

Seeing that I just did a makeover on my entire site, it looks like all of the links I had to other Transformers-related pages have gone 404.

If you know of any other Transformers websites that you would like to see linked to, please send them to me!

Update! Martin Gauthier wrote in to inform me of the Optimus Prime Fansector website. It's a website dedicated solely to Optimus Prime, the greatest autobot of all!

T'was The Night Before Christmas, Transformers Style

by The Weeter (theweeter@aol.com)

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through out Cybertron
not a creature was sturring
not even a Stunticon.

The radar dishes were spinning
and scanning the air
in hopes that ol' Unicron
would not be near there.

The 'Bots and 'Cons were
sleeping in recharging beds
while visions of victory
danced in their heads.

Then upon the scanner
there came such a clatter
as the sky was filled
all awoke to see whats the matter.

A big hulking planet
trasnsformed on their rooves
where his feet landed
EVERYONE moved.

He stomped, and roared

Transformers Fan Purity Test

by Diana Calder (az529@freenet.carleton.ca)

Introduction

Are a.t.t.ers "Transformers fans"? Sure! But just how much of a fan
_are_ you? TransFans can range from the casual fan, who cherishes a few
childhood toys, to the geek who knows every tech spec and episode by
heart, to the deranged psychopath who lives to dig through Hasbro/Kenner
garbage cans. This is the "official" alt.tv.transformers test to
determine how much Transformers rule your life. This test was inspired by
the alt.tv.animaniacs "Animaniacs Fan Purity Test" and the various "You
Know You're Obsessed with Tfs When..." posts on a.t.t. To score sections

The Female Perspective, Part 2

by Phoenix (rodimus@one.net.au)

So, why do all the girls think Megatron and Optimus Prime are so sexy?
Please put aside the notion for a moment that they are just robots, I am
considering them as 'men'.

The first and most obvious reason is their power, they are first in command
of their respective armies. Any man (well, just about!) who is high ranking,
wether as captain of a sports team or the president of a nation, will always
be able to pull in the girls. Power is a big drawcard, it sends out the
message that 'I'm the best' and from a survival point of view this is highly

Chronology of the Transformers

by Technoknight (knightster@CMU.EDU)

OK, lots of people are arguing about the Tranformers. Here's my hypothesis:
(following the Quintisson theory, using the TV series and movie ONLY.)

9 million years B.C.

The Quintisons create Vector Sigma and the planet (about the size of Mars, but
much heavier as it is entirely metal and air) Cyberton. They start selling
military and personal robots to the dominant life-forms in the Milky Way
Galaxy. The biggest buyers happen to be humanoid in shape, so the robots are
