Adam's Mark Hotel

May 7th, 2006

On May 7th, 2006, it was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and I spent the afternoon taking photographs of the current state of the Adam's Mark hotel.

The full dump of the pictures, and at much higher resolution, can be found on my photo album on Flickr.

January 1st, 2006

Uncle Kage and I visited the Adam's Mark hotel on January 1st, 2006. Or rather, what was left of it.

Click on each picture if you'd like to view details of that particular picture.

Also, you may wish to view Uncle Kage's pictures of the inside of the Adam's Mark, taken some months before, when the hotel held a public sale of its inventory.

Adam's Mark Philadelphia Deconstruction

This album holds pictures of the Adam's Mark as it is being torn down by the Target Corporation.

We held Anthrocon here from 2001 through 2004, and we forced to relocate suddenly for the 2005 convention when the Adam's Mark announced their intent to close in early 2005.

Wide shot of the back

Wide shot of the back

A final shot of the back of the hotel, you can see that it is mostly gutteed, while the front still appears to be untouched.

Here's a closeup of the upper floors. They really tore things apart there.

Top of the elevator shafts

Top of the elevator shafts

The top of the elevator shafts. It looks like they actually left the part from the 23rd floor intact.

I have many memories of standing in that hallway waiting on the elevators. :-)

If you look in the center, you can see that the elevator shafts are still present. I would guess that they provide support for much of the building and destroying them would cause the building to collapse.

What's left of the parking garage

What's left of the parking garage

Actually, there isn't much left of the parking garage. It was completely demolished and flattened out.

Scaffolding along Monument Road

Scaffolding along Monument Road

They had scaffolding in front of the hotel on monument road. Unfortunately, there was cloth to the left, so I could not get any good pictures of where the pool area used to be.
